There were twenty successful candidates for Naval Cadetships in the January 1874 intake term at H.M.S. Britannia who completed the examinations in the following order of merit.[1]

Eustace Goldfinch and White D. Couper (who might be George Couper) passed the test but were not selected. They would be welcome to compete again in the next examination.
