Builder: J. Samuel White[2]
Launched: 19 Apr, 1916[3]

H.M.S. Medway was one of one hundred and three destroyers of the "M" class built for the Royal Navy during the Great War.

She was originally to be named Redwing, but this was changed to Medora and then to Medway before her launch.[5]

Service

In August 1916, Medway joined the Thirteenth Destroyer Flotilla.[6] She served with the Thirteenth until March, 1918 when she went to the Third Destroyer Flotilla.[7] In May, she went to the Second Destroyer Flotilla of the Northern Division of the Coast of Ireland Station.[8]

She was one of six destroyers loaned to the Fifteenth Destroyer Flotilla in November 1918, but this assignment did not persist beyond around a month.[9]

In January, 1919, Medway was sent to Portsmouth as part of a post-war demobilisation.[10]

Medway was reduced to C. & M. Party at Portsmouth on 17 October, 1919.[11]
