U.S.S. Smith Thompson was one of one hundred and fifty-six Clemson Class destroyers completed for the U.S. Navy.

She was commissioned on 10 December, 1919 with Commander B. G. Barthalow in command, which seems dubious, as I cannot find any name like that.
