U.S.S. Wood was one of one hundred and fifty-six Clemson Class destroyers completed for the U.S. Navy.
Service
Wood was commissioned at the Mare Island Navy Yard in Vallejo, California, on 28 January, 1921. Lieutenant Commander Paul M. Bates was appointed in command.
