H.M.S. Splendid was one of sixty-seven "S" class destroyers built for the Royal Navy as the Great War was ending.

Service

Splendid was recommissioned at Chatham on 15 May, 1920.[6]

Splendid arrived at Sheerness with Mackay, Swallow and Sportive on 31 October, 1923.[7]

She re-commissioned at Chatham with reduced crew on 29 November, 1923. By March 1925 she was operating in the Mediterrean.[8]

Splendid was re-commissioned at Gibraltar on 15 May, 1926 for service in the Mediterranean.[9]

On 25 September 1928, Lt. Cdr. Richards was tried by Court Martial for having negligently or by default hazarded his command. The charge proved, he was subjected to a severe reprimand.[10]

Splendid rwas e-commissioned at Gibraltar on 24 November, 1928 for service in the Mediterranean.[11]
