The Royal Navy had a varying number of naval attachés stationed in a changing global landscape of embassies throughout our period. This page's peculiar organization reflects that changing landscape. Prior to World War I, there were commonly eight attachés, sited in Washington, Paris, Rome, Tokyo, Berlin, Stockholm, Vienna, and St. Petersburg. By the early 1930s, this had been reduced to six, sited in Washington, Paris, Rome, Tokyo, Berlin and Buenos Aires.[1]
