Charles Ford Hammill

Captain Charles Ford Hammill, C.I.E. (27 November, 1891 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

His father was a Captain in the R.N., but he listed his mother as his guardian upon entering the Training Establishment in May 1904.

Hammill was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 August, 1913. Hammill served in the battleship Colossus from 5 February, 1913, fighting in her at the Battle of Jutland. On 19 September 1917, he was appointed to her for gunnery duties on the Rear-Admiral's staff.

Hammill was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 August, 1921.

Hammill was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 192[?].

Hammill was placed on the Retired List at the rank of Captain on 12 January, 1943.
