H.M.S. Tasmania was one of sixty-seven "S" class destroyers built for the Royal Navy as the Great War was ending. She was completed just after the war.

Service

The destroyer was re-commissioned as H.M.A.S. Tasmania for service in the Royal Australian Navy on 27 January 1920.

She was re-commissioned at Sydney on 20 September, 1922.[6]

In mid-1931, she was in reserve at Sydney,[7] where she commissioned on 31 July.[8]
