H.M.S. Oakley was one of one hundred and fourteen Hunt Class minesweepers completed for the Royal Navy.
Service
After working on mine clearance in the Baltic with the Eleventh Fleet Sweeping Flotilla, in January 1920, Oakley, Holderness, Heythrop and Cattistock were ordered to be paid off at Portsmouth and taken to Harwich to be placed in the hands of Care and Maintenance Parties.[8]
Oakley paid off at Portsmouth on 15 January, 1920.[9]
In January, 1921, she was at Harwich, one of forty-one paid off minesweepers there.[10]

- Lieutenant in Command Alpin E. Thomson, 25 September, 1919[18] – 20 January, 1920
Bell's Service Record implies that he may have commanded until 20 January, 1920, but perhaps he ceded command to Stewart to focus on Flotilla command?
