H.M.S. Strenuous was one of sixty-seven "S" class destroyers built for the Royal Navy as the Great War was ending. She was completed just after the war ended.
Service
Strenuous was re-commissioned with Reserve Complement at Devonport on 6 May, 1920.[6]
She was re-commissioned on 19 May, 1922.[7]
Paid off into Maintenance Reserve on 20 December, 1927.[8]
In June of 1933, her bell was one of about 100 surplus bells announced as being for sale at prices ranging from £1 to £10. Preference would be given to those offers from men with a special consideration in the bell in question.[9]

- Lieutenant-Commander Charles M. Blackman, 6 December, 1918[10][11] – 17 May, 1920[12] (and for duty with Captain Superintendent, T.B.Ds.)
- Lieutenant-Commander Louis H. K. Hamilton, 29 December, 1920[13] – 19 May, 1922
- Lieutenant-Commander Robin B. Martin, c. October, 1927 – November, 1927 (for passage to Rosyth)
