H.M.S. Albury was one of one hundred and fourteen Hunt Class minesweepers completed for the Royal Navy.

Albury paid off at the Nore on 21 November, 1919. In January, 1921, she was at Harwich, one of forty-one paid off minesweepers there. She remained there at least until March, 1925.[6][7]
In late 1925, she and Dunoon and Pangbourne were three of twelve minesweepers in the Central Reserve at Sheerness selected for foreign service which would be fitted out for hot weather to accommodate senior officers.[8]
She was re-commissioned on 22 March, 1927 for work with the First Minesweeping Flotilla.[9]
