H.M.S. Sportive was one of sixty-seven "S" class destroyers built for the Royal Navy as the Great War was ending.

Service

Sportive arrived in Alexandria on 9 October 1919.[6]

Sportive arrived in Alexandria on 25 October 1919.[7] She left Malta for the Black Sea on 27 December,[8] passing through Constantinople on the 29th in company with Marlborough, Speedy and Tobago.[9]

The ship arrived again at Constantinople on 13 February, 1920,[10] leaving on the 15th for Mersina.[11]

Sportive recommissioned at Malta on 17 June, 1920.[12]

Sportive arrived at Sheerness with Mackay, Swallow and Splendid on 31 October, 1923.[13]

She reduced to Reserve Complement on 5 June, 1924.[14]

Godfrey Ratcliffe Chambers took command of Sportive for passage to Rosyth in early 1928. Once there, she went into Maintenance Reserve on 30 March, 1928.[15] She would remain in this disposition until being sold in 1936.
