Service
Hermes was assigned to the Channel Fleet until 1905 when she was reduced to reserve at Portsmouth. She was recommissioned the following year as the flagship of the East Indies Station, until being selected to become the flagship of the Cape of Good Hope Station in 1907.
In 1910, Hermes was the best gunnery ship of the three tested at the Cape of Good Hope Station, scoring 75.66 – well ahead of the average 46.930.[8]
