H.M.S. Zebra was one of thirty-six 27 Knotters, a broad meta-class of early Torpedo Boat Destroyers built for the Royal Navy in the 1890s.
Like most of the 27 knotters, she was broken up before the war.
Service
An inspection of Zebra in 1906 by the Rear Admiral found her in good condition, but the starboard head was being used as a paint shop against orders.[7]
Zebra entered Sheerness Dockyard for refitting on 27 October, 1906.[8]
She left the Nore to exercise with five other destroyers and seven torpedo boats of the Nore Local Defence Flotilla on 18 June, 1912.[9]
She was ordered to be paid off at Chatham and placed on the "for sale" list on 13 July, 1912.[10]
By March 1913 she was at Chatham listed as "To be Sold".[11] By April 1914 she was missing from the Navy List entirely.
