H.M.S. Kempenfelt (1931)

H.M.S. Kempenfelt was one of fourteen "C" and "D" Class destroyers completed for the Royal Navy. She was one of two "leaders" of the class, accommodating an additional thirty in complement.

Service

Completed to Full Complement at Devonport on 7 June, 1932 for service with the Second Destroyer Flotilla under Captain (D) Edye Kington Boddam-Whetham.[3]

Re-commissioned at Devonport on 31 August, 1934 for service with the Second Destroyer Flotilla of the Home Fleet.[4]

Re-commissioned at Chatham on 16 April, 1937 for service with the Fourth Destroyer Flotilla of the Home Fleet.[5]

Kempenfelt was transferred to the Royal Canadian Navy in 1939 and renamed H.M.C.S. Assiniboine.
