Ronald Hamilton Curzon Hallifax

Vice-Admiral Ronald Hamilton Curzon Hallifax, C.B. (24 July, 1885 – 6 November, 1943) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

I believe he was the son of Captain John Salwey Hallifax, and the younger brother to Guy Waterhouse Hallifax, who eventually became a Rear-Admiral.

Life & Career

The son of Captain Hallifax, R.N. was born in Bilton. He gained three and a half months' time on passing out of Britannia in mid-May of 1902.

Hallifax was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 December, 1907.

Hallifax was was appointed as navigating officer in Queen Elizabeth on 9 October 1914. Hallifax was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 31 December, 1915 and served in the ship at the Battle of Jutland.

He served in Queen Elizabeth to February, 1917, when he transferred to Iron Duke as navigator, where he remained until being appointed in command of Plucky on 9 May, 1918.

Hallifax was appointed in command of the destroyer Seafire on 28 September, 1918.[1]

Post-War

Hallifax was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1919.

Hallifax was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1927.

Hallifax was appointed in command of the light cruiser Dartmouth in December, 1928.

Hallifax was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 10 August, 1938.

Hallifax was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 15 February, 1942.
