H.M.S. Wallace was one of five Shakespeare class flotilla leaders.
Service
Wallace was re-commissioned at Portsmouth on 11 December, 1920.[5]
She was completed to full crew on 12 November, 1924 and proceeded to lead the First Destroyer Flotilla as part of the Atlantic Fleet.[6]
She re-commissioned on 1 June, 1927 and was attached to the Fifth Destroyer Flotilla in the Atlantic Fleet.[7]
Re-commissioned at Portsmouth on 4 September, 1928 for work with the Fifth Destroyer Flotilla in the Atlantic Fleet.[8]
Wallace was re-commissioned at Portsmouth on 11 November, 1930 for continued work with the Fifth Destroyer Flotilla in the Atlantic Fleet.[9]
Commissioned at Devonport on 30 June, 1932 for service with the Fifth Destroyer Flotilla, which was now part of Home Fleet.[10]
In 1935, her bell was one of several ships' bells the Royal Navy offered for sale to officers and others interested. It attracted a price of £1-£5, and men were to apply to win one at the fixed price, stating any special attachment or claim they had to the item(s) applied for.[11]
She re-commissioned with a Reserve Complement on 12 November, 1934.[12]
Equipment
In 1919, Wallace was selected to receive one of the first five Renouf Torpedo Tactical Instrument Type As.[13] These devices, and their entire extended family, would eventually be abandoned due to their complexity.
