Captain Patrick Stewart Erskine Maxwell, R.N. (15 January, 1886 – 22 May, 1944) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Born in Brompton, London.

Maxwell was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 1 October, 1907.[1]

In 1908, Maxwell committed a breach of discipline in not possessing Ball Dress.

Great War

Maxwell was appointed to Challenger as her navigating officer on 8 August, 1914.[2]

Maxwell was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 1 October, 1915.[3]

On 8 August, 1918, he was appointed in command of the yacht Melisande, as part of the surveying service.[4] He remained with her one year.

Post-War

Maxwell was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1921.

Appointed in command of Flinders from 23 February, 1920 to 1 January, 1921.

Appointed in command of Kellett from 1 DEcember, 1924 to 12 April, 1927.

Maxwell was placed on the Retired List on account of age with the rank of Captain on 15 January, 1936.
