H.M.S. Hart was one of thirty-six 27 Knotters, a broad meta-class of early Torpedo Boat Destroyers built for the Royal Navy in the 1890s.
She was broken up before the war.
Service
Hart arrived at Singapore in early December, 1896 in company with Centurion, the T.B.Ds. Handy and Alacrity and the torpedo cruiser Porpoise.[7] By the nineteenth, the ships had moved on for Hong Kong, less Alacrity.[8]
In July, 1904, complaints from Vice-Admiral Noel of the China Station about the condition of his T.B.s and T.B.D.s prompted a review of his assets by First Lord of the Admiralty Selborne. Within, it was noted that Hart's boilers had last been re-tubed in 1898, but that a form S.355 dated April 1904 stated they had another 21 months life left in them.[9]
