Rear-Admiral (retired) Arthur William Carter (9 November, 1856 – 3 February, 1931) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Carter was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 December, 1879.[1]
Carter was promoted to the rank of Commander on 1 January, 1894. In October of 1895, it was noted that he had "commanded the Surprise in a satisfactory manner," but "I don't think his health is what it was."[2]
Carter stayed in it, and was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1899.[3]
Carter was appointed in command of the battleship Glory in April, 1901.
Carter was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 28 January, 1905 and subsequently promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on the Retired List on 3 November, 1908.[4]
