H.M.S. Albatross was one of forty "C" class destroyers built for the Royal Navy — a "30 knotter".
She was built for £66,500, and failed to make her design speed of 32 knots, reaching just 31.35 knots despite developing 7,732 H.P. – more than her designed 7,500 H.P..[8]
Service
In reserve at Malta in December, 1905.[9]
In early 1908, she was in the Mediterranean.[10]
In mid-1911, she was in the Mediterranean.[11]
