H.M.S. Mackay (named H.M.S. Claverhouse until 31 December, 1918) was one of eight flotilla leaders of the Scott class. She was not completed in time to see action in the Great War.
Service
Mackay arrived at Sheerness with Sportive, Swallow and Splendid on 31 October, 1923.[7]
Mackay was re-commissioned at Chatham on 4 December, 1923. By March 1925, she was with the Ninth Destroyer Flotilla.[8]
Re-commissioned at Rosyth as leader of the Fifth Destroyer Flotilla with the Atlantic Fleet on 1 June, 1927.[9]
The ship was reduced to Reserve at Chatham on 31 October, 1928.[10]
Mackay was re-commissioned at Devonport on 11 June, 1929.[11]
She was re-commissioned at Devonport on 29 December, 1931.[12]
Mackay commissioned at Devonport on 4 April, 1933.[13]
In June of 1933, her bell was one of about 100 surplus bells announced as being for sale at prices ranging from £1 to £10. Preference would be given to those offers from men with a special consideration in the bell in question.[14]
She re-commissioned at Devonport on 1 January, 1935.[15]
Mackay was re-commissioned in Reserve at Devonport on 15 June, 1936.[16]
