H.M.S. Cairo (1918)
Pendant Number: 97 (Sep 1919)[1]
Builder: Cammell Laird
Laid down: 28 Nov, 1917
Launched: 19 Nov, 1918
Commissioned: 10 Oct, 1919[2]
Sunk: 12 Aug, 1942

Service

Cairo re-commissioned at Bombay on 8 March, 1924.[3]

She re-commissioned at Devonport on 17 January, 1927.[4]

Re-commissioned on 8 August, 1928.[5]

Paid off into Dockyard Control at Chatham on 21 January, 1931.[6]

In 1934, her bell was offered for sale to naval officers and others who might be interested, at the price of £5. Interested parties were to write the Director of Stores and were urged to include any special information which might convey the importance they attach to the bell, in light of the Admiralty's understanding that such items carry great sentimental value.[7]

She was re-commissioned at Portsmouth on 25 April, 1935.[8]

Fire Control

Listed in June 1918 as one of eight light cruisers to receive a Mark III* Dreyer Table, presumably in place at time of completion.[9]

Captains

Dates of appointment are provided when known.
