Captain (retired) Victor Lindsey Arbuthnot Campbell, D.S.O., O.B.E.(m) (28 August, 1875 – 19 November, 1956) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career

Campbell was promoted to the rank of Commander on the emergency list in recognition of his services in the Antarctic Expedition in accordance with the Order in Council of 12 August, 1913. A motion drafted 27 June, 1917 was reviewed by the King in council on 2 July 1917 and Campbell was also thereby re-instated to the Active List with the rank of Commander with seniority of 9 May, 1917 in reflection of his distinguished service in the war.[1]
Campbell as mentioned in despatches for service in the Ostend blocking operation of 9-10 May, 1918. He was again mentioned for service in the Zeebrugge and Ostend blocking operations of 22-23 April, 1918.[2]
On 23 July 1918, Campbell was appointed to the Russian protected cruiser Askold, additional. This lasted only until 27 August when Campbell was appointed to services on shore in Murmansk, for which Campbell would later be awarded an O.B.E.. This work carried him until 26 February, 1919.[3]
Post-War
Campbell was appointed in command of the destroyer Versatile on 6 December, 1920.[4]
Campbell was placed on the Retired List at his own request with the rank of Captain on 13 December, 1922.[5]
World War II
Campbell was appointed S.N.O., Trinidad on 26 August, 1939. He was superseded on 30 June, 1940 and reverted to the Retired List on 1 July.[6]
On 13 June 1943, Campbell entered the Royal Canadian Navy as Commander (temporary), and appointed Avalon, additional, as Naval Officer in Charge, Cometbrook[?]. This appointment was terminated on 30 April, 1944. On 1 May, he reverted to the Retired List with the rank of Captain (retired), R.N..[7]
His death was reported in The Times on 21 November, 1956.
