H.M.S. Resolution was one of eight Royal Sovereign class battleships completed for the Royal Navy in 1893-94. She was sold shortly before the Great War.
A super-dreadnought with the same name was launched in 1915.
Construction
Resolution was launched in the afternoon of 28 May, 1892. The christening ceremony was performed by Mrs. William H. White, wife of the Director of Naval Construction. In attendance were Sir C. M. Palmer, Admiral Richard D. King, and local dignitaries.[8]
Service
Captain Alexander W. Chisholm-Batten paid off the Resolution on 9 October, 1901 and he and his crew turned over to commission the new battleship Formidable on the following day.[9]
