Builder: Chatham Royal Dockyard[1]
Laid down: 15 Nov, 1924[2]
Launched: 16 Mar, 1926[3]
Completed: 22 Jun, 1928[4]
Broken up: 1948[5]

H.M.S. Kent was one of seven Kent Class cruisers completed for the Royal Navy.

Service

Ready for trials in April 1928, Kent was to proceed to Portsmouth on April 19, expected to arrive on 1 May.[6]

She was commissioned at Chatham on 25 June, 1928,[7] Kent went out to the China Station to relieve Hawkins as flagship.[8]

In mid-1931 she was still with the Fifth Cruiser Squadron on the China Station,[9] but she returned to Chatham for a refit in 1931, replaced as flagship by H.M.S. Suffolk. She re-commissioned at Chatham on 30 July, 1931 to return to China.[10]

She re-commissioned at Chatham on 25 May, 1934.[11]

Paid off into Reserve at Portsmouth on 30 January, 1937.[12]
