H.M.S. E 6 (1912)
Pendant Number: I.86 (1914)
E.6 (mid 1915)[1]
Builder: Vickers[2]
Ordered: 1910-11[3]
Launched: 12 Nov, 1912[4]
Mined: 26 Dec, 1915[5]

H.M.S. E 6 was one of fifty-seven "E" class submarines completed in Britain before and during the Great War.

Service

Lieutenant Talbot commanded the submarine in the early days of the war and catalogued her service with the Eighth Submarine Flotilla.[6] On 24 July, she released two of six carrier pigeons held aboard to test whether they'd be effective when used by submarines in the Bight, and on the 25th she hunted a U-boat on the surface before being set upon by destroyers, a zeppelin and a seaplane while at the same time becoming fouled by a net.
