H.M.S. E 23 was one of fifty-seven "E" class submarines completed in Britain before and during the Great War.

Service

In early 1920, she was one of nine "E" class boats gathered into Group "H" in reserve at Portsmouth and tender to Dolphin. This group remained intact until at least late 1920.[6]
