Gerald Harman Warner
Captain Gerald Harman Warner, D.S.C. (15 January, 1893 – ) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
The son of solicitor Charles E. Warner. He emerged from the Training Esatablishment on 15 January, 1911 and was appointed to the battleship Hibernia of the Second Division, Home Fleet.[1]
He was noted to stammer slightly in his second appointment, in the battleship Orion, in December 1912.[2]
Warner was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 March, 1916. On 22 March, he was appointed to the light cruiser Dublin. He served in her at the Battle of Jutland as part of the Second Light Cruiser Squadron.[3]
Warner was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 March, 1924.[4]
Warner was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1929.[5]
Warner was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1936.[6]
World War II
In October 1939 he was admitted to Royal Naval Hospital, Plymouth for what proved to be internal hemmorhaging.[7]
He was placed on the Retired List on 2 January, 1946 and reverted there on 11 November 1946.[8]
