Philip Louis Vian
Admiral of the Fleet SIR Philip Louis Vian, G.C.B., K.B.E., D.S.O., R.N. (15 June, 1894 – 27 May, 1968) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Vian was the son of Alsager Vian, Esq., who service as Chairman and Managing Director of a Limited Company.
Vian was granted the acting rank of Lieutenant on 15 September, 1916.
Vian was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 July, 1916, later adjusted to 15 February, 1916.
Vian was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 February, 1924.
Vian was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1929.
Vian was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1934.
World War II
Vian was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 8 July, 1941.
Vian was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 8 May, 1945.
Vian was promoted to the rank of Admiral on 26 September, 1948.
Vian was promoted to the rank of Admiral of the Fleet on 1 June, 1952.
