Lieutenant-Commander Philip Alfred Shepherd, R.N. (24 February, 1884 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Shepherd was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 1 April, 1906.

Shepherd completed a command appointment of T.B. 12 on 17 August, 1912 and was appointed to President for a course of aviation at the Central Flying School. He emerged as a Flying Officer on 5 December, 1912 and was appointed to Actæon. On 16 April, 1913 he returned to the Central Flying School as a Squadron Commander.

Shepherd was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 1 April, 1914.

Promoted to Squadron Commander on 1 July, 1914, Shepherd was appointed to Pembroke III for duty with the R.N.A.S. on 1 November, 1914.

On 22 May 1916, he was appointed to Ark Royal for the No. 2 Wing, R.N.A.S..

Granted the acting rank of Wing Commander on 21 January, 1918. Shepherd's name was removed from the list of active R.N. officers when he was granted a permanent commission in the R.A.F. on 1 August, 1919.
