Admiral SIR Alexander Cumming Gordon Madden, K.C.B., C.B.E., R.N. (21 January, 1895 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Madden's father was a Clerk in Holy Orders.[1]

Madden was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 December, 1916.[2]

Madden was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 December, 1924.[3]

Madden was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1929.[4]

Madden was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1936.[5]

World War II

Madden was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 2 January, 1946.[6]

Madden was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 5 February, 1949.[7]

Madden was promoted to the rank of Admiral on 1 September, 1952 and placed on the Retired List on 9 February, 1956.[8]
