H.M.S. Isis was commissioned in 1898 as one of nine Eclipse class cruisers completed for the Royal Navy.
Service
Isis was commissioned at Chatham on 10 May, 1898 under the command of Captain Henry Hart Dyke.[8]
Isis re-commissioned at Devonport on 14 February, 1912 for service with the Third Fleet. In July, 1913 she was ordered to Portsmouth for a refit.[9]
On 3 March, 1915, she replaced Juno as the flagship in Cruiser Force E for just a single week.[10]
Radio
In 1901 while assigned to the China Squadron, the ship was noted as having or being slated to receive a "1 to 52" W/T set.[11]
