Lieutenant Montague George Philpott, (28 January, 1869 – ) served in the Royal Navy and the Royal Naval Reserve.

Life & Career

Philpott was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant (supplementary list) on 1 October, 1898.[1]

Philpott was at times handed around like a hot potato.

Appointed to Tyne for navigating duties in late August, 1901.[2]

Appointed to the second class protected cruiser Marathon for navigating duties dated 7 September, 1904[3] and then to destroyer Albacore for navigating duties dated 30 September, 1904.[4]

Appointed to the second class protected cruiser Medea for navigating duties dated 22 November, 1904.[5] This proved quite brief, as he was appointed to the second class protected cruiser Marathon for navigating duties dated 10 December, 1904.[6]

Appointed to the second class protected cruiser Indefatigable on 3 January, 1905.[7]
