Captain (retired) William Mellor, D.S.O., R.N. (20 August, 1874 – 10 May, 1928) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Born in Walton.

Mellor was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 20 August, 1894.

Mellor was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1906.

Mellor served in Minerva from 11 September 1906 to 21 September 1908. In August 1908, Captain Clarke noted that Mellor had a slight speech impediment that did not appear to interfere with his duties.

Post-War

Mellor was placed on the Retired List at his own request with the rank of Captain on 14 January, 1921. He would die at his residence in Liverpool in mid-1928, of pneumonia.
