Admiral SIR John Frederick Ernest Green, K.C.M.G., C.B., Royal Navy, Retired (8 August, 1866 – 30 October, 1948) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Early Life & Career

On 1 April, 1922, Green was appointed Commanding Officer, Coast of Scotland and Admiral Superintendent of Rosyth Dockyard.[1]

Retirement

While shooting in Fife on 31 October, 1925 with fellow retired admiral Edward H. Moubray and Admiral Sir Henry Oliver, Commander-in-Chief of the Atlantic Fleet, Green wheeled for a woodcock, fired and shot one barrel into Oliver, fortunately not seriously injuring him. According to Oliver, Green had accidentally shot someone before, and acquired a reputation for doing so.[2]
