Admiral SIR Albert Percy Addison, K.B.E., C.B., C.M.G., (8 November, 1875 – 13 November, 1952) was an officer of the Royal Navy during the First World War.

Life & Career

Addison was appointed in command of the first-class torpedo boat T.B. 71 in July, 1896 for manoeuvres.[1]

He was given command of the first-class torpedo boat T.B. 110 on 21 July, 1903, for manoeuvres, and also command of Milford Flotilla.[2]

He was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1907.[3]

Addison was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1913.

In February 1915, Addison was appointed in command of the light cruiser Carysfort.[4] In September, he became Captain of the light cruiser Dartmouth.[5]

On 14 August, 1917, he was appointed in command of Maidstone, becoming Captain (S) of the Ninth Submarine Flotilla. He would retain this post through the end of the war.[6]

Post-war

In January 1920, he was appointed in command of the battlecruiser Lion, relieving Wilfred Tomkinson. On 15 April, he became Director of Torpedoes and Mining.

In 1922, he succeeded John Saumarez Dumaresq as Rear-Admiral Commanding H.M. Australian Fleet.[Citation needed]
