Commander (retired) Valentine Searles-Wood (23 June, 1892 – 2 May, 1943) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Searles-Wood was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 April, 1915.[1]

Searles-Wood was appointed in command of the destroyer Harpy on 5 November, 1918.[2]

Searles-Wood was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 April, 1923.[3]

Searles-Wood was placed on the Retired List with the rank of Commander on 20 August, 1935.[4]

World War II

He commanded 25 Group of anti-submarine trawlers from 12 to 23 October 1939, and he was then placed in command of the armed yacht St. Modwen. He reverted to the Retired List on 13 February, 1940.[5]
