H.M.S. Restless was one of 62 destroyers of the "R" class.

Service

Restless was assigned to the Grand Fleet's Fifteenth Destroyer Flotilla in October 1916, as it was just reaching a useful strength.[8] She was loaned to the Second Destroyer Flotilla for August through October, 1917 but returned to the Fifteenth Destroyer Flotilla.

On 26 January, 1918, Michael Kavanagh Horsley Kennedy grounded her at Ardrossan and was subjected to a Court of Enquiry whose conclusions are illegible in his service record.[9]

In February, 1919 Restless moved to the Fourth Destroyer Flotilla, one of the seven main flotillas of the post-war fleet.

She re-commissioned with reduced complement on 30 October, 1919.[10]

Re-commissioned on 8 March, 1922.[11]

Re-commissioned at Sheerness on 18 July, 1925.[12]

Completed to a special complement at Portsmouth on 12 August, 1926.[13]

On 3 June 1927, she left Portland for Portsmouth in company with Tilbury and Toreador.[14]

In June of 1933, her bell was one of about 100 surplus bells announced as being for sale at prices ranging from £1 to £10. Preference would be given to those offers from men with a special consideration in the bell in question.[15]

On 23 November, 1936, she was handed over to be broken up.
