Acting Vice-Admiral Tom Spencer Vaughan Phillips (19 February, 1888 – 10 December, 1941) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Phillips was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 July, 1908.[1]

Phillips was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 July, 1916.[2]

Phillips was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1921.[3]

Phillips was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1927.[4]

World War II

Phillips was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 10 January, 1939.[5] He was appointed Rear-Admiral (D), Commanding Home Fleet Destroyer Flotillas on 20 April, 1938.[6]

Phillips was granted the acting rank of Vice-Admiral on 7 February, 1940.[7]

Phillips died when the battleship Prince of Wales succumbed to Japanese air attack on 10 December, 1941.
