There was an earlier Amazon launched in 1908.
Construction and Service
Amazon was commissioned at Portsmouth on 9 May, 1927 under the command of Commander Francis Howard, who had been appointed to the ship almost a year earlier.[6]

She commissioned at Portsmouth on 1 June, 1932.[8]
