H.M.S. C 8 was one of thirty-eight "C" class coastal submarines completed for the Royal Navy.

Service

On 25 October, 1909 she was one of three "C" class boats to complete a refit at Sheerness Dockyard, now adorned with a new pattern bridge. They were to be inclined for stability tests before returning to The Nore Submarine Flotilla at Harwich.[5]
