Roger Poore, a son born in 1886 joined the Navy  and had trouble passing algebra and geometry while in {{UK-1Britannia}}.  He suffered a bout of enteric fever and nervous attacks and was allowed to withdraw from the service at the end of 1907.  ROger would die in September, 1915 while serving as a Lieutenant of the Royal Field Artillery.<ref>Roger Poore Service Record.  Found in ADM 196/51/33.</ref>

Admiral SIR Richard Poore, Fourth Baronet, K.C.B., Royal Navy (7 July, 1853 – 8 December, 1930) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Early Life & Career

He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant with seniority of 9 March, 1876.

Poore was promoted to the rank of Commander on 4 February, 1885.[1]

Captain

Poore was promoted to the rank of Captain on 13 May, 1890.[2]

He assumed command of the first class protected cruiser Hawke in November 1896.[3]

He was appointed command of battleship Illustrious on 28 April, 1898.[4]

Poore was appointed to Vivid on 9 March, 1900, for command of the Royal Naval Barracks and as Flag Captain.[5] He was appointed a Naval Aide-de-Camp to King Edward VII on 16 June, 1901, vice Metaxa.[6]

He was appointed captain of H.M.S. Jupiter in December 1902, remaining there until the following September.[7]

Flag Rank

Poore was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 30 August, 1903, vice Holland.[8]
