Vice-Admiral Colin Kenneth MacLean, C.B., C.V.O., D.S.O., Royal Navy (17 September, 1876 – 12 September, 1935) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
MacLean was born in Punjab and raised by his mother.
MacLean was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 December, 1898.[1]
MacLean was appointed in command of the destroyer Lee on 16 September, 1903.[2]
MacLean was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1910.[3]
He was appointed in command of the destroyer Hornet on 12 May, 1913.[4]
MacLean was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1915.[5]
MacLean was appointed in command of the flotilla leader Spenser and Captain (D) for the Tenth Destroyer Flotilla on 17 October, 1917.[6]

Post-War
MacLean was mentioned in despatches 8 March, 1920 for valuable services rendered in the Gulf of Finland in command of the Second Destroyer Flotilla, the Rear Admiral commanding the Baltic forces reported, "I find it hard to express the value of this officer's services example".[8]
After being superseded as Captain (D) of 2 D.F. on 29 April, 1920, MacLean was appointed to the light cruiser Cardiff on 1 January, 1921 to take command when she re-commissioned, which occurred on the 12th. He served as Flag Captain to Rear Admiral Tyrwhitt in her until 3 June, 1921.[9]
He was appointed in command of the light cruiser Centaur in April, 1925.
MacLean was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 2 July, 1927.[10]
MacLean was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 6 October, 1931.[11]
MacLean was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 15 February, 1932.[12]
