Rear-Admiral SIR Kenelm Everard Lane Creighton, K.B.E., M.V.O., Royal Navy (10 January, 1883 – 27 February, 1963) was an officer of the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Born in Sliema, Malta, the son of a Major R. H. Creighton.
Creighton was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 March, 1904.[1][2]
Creighton was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 31 March, 1912.[3]
Creighton was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 31 December, 1915.[4]
Creighton was navigating officer aboard New Zealand at the battles of Heligoland Bight, Dogger Bank, and Jutland. Later, he fulfilled this role aboard Australia and Queen Elizabeth.
On the occasion of the King's birthday he was appointed a Member of the Fourth Class of the Royal Victorian Order (M.V.O.) on 3 June, 1922.[5]
He superseded James F. Somerville as temporary captain of Benbow from November 1923 until late February, 1924.[6]
Creighton was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 11 February, 1934 and placed on the REtired List the following day.[7]
Creighton was appointed an Additional Knight Commander of the Military Division of the Order of the British Empire (K.B.E.) on 8 June, 1944.[8]
