H.M. T.B. 47 was one of 53 first-class torpedo boats of the 125 Footer class.
Service
On 12 May 1887, T.B. 47 suffered a burst pipe in the boiler room while steaming at high speed between Portland and Torquay, searing five artificers and stokers – three of them critically (two of these died). She was towed back to Devonport by Rattlesnake in the evening.[5]
In 1895, she was one of eleven first-class torpedo boats stationed in Gibraltar.[6]
Around 1906-1907, with the issuance of torpedo boat numbers to the first of the Cricket class torpedo boats, the existing Torpedo Boats numbered 25 to 79 had a "0" prepended to their number. This vessel, therefore, became T.B. 047.[7]
