H.M.S. E 22 was one of fifty-seven "E" class submarines completed in Britain before and during the Great War.

Service

In 1916, she carried a seaplane into Heligoland Bight on her fore-superstructure. The effort failed, as the seaplane was unable for some reason to gain flight.[6]
