H.M.S. Brilliant was one of 21 Apollo class second-class cruisers completed in the early to mid 1890s.
Service
She re-commissioned at Portsmouth on 3 April, 1906. In early 1908, she was attached to the Fourth Cruiser Squadron.[7]
In 1910, despite her advanced age, Brilliant was the best gunnery ship of the three tested in the Fourth Cruiser Squadron, scoring 52.52, compared to the average 41.888.[8]
