H.M. T.B. 71 (1885)
Builder: Yarrow[1]
Ordered: 30/31 March, 1885[2]
Launched: 1885[3]
Completed: 1886[4]
Sold: 6 February, 1923[5]

H.M. T.B. 71 was one of 53 first-class torpedo boats of the 125 Footer class.

Service

In 1895, she was one of twenty-three torpedo boats of at least 125 feet in length stationed in Portsmouth along with four smaller ones.[6]

Around 1906-1907, with the issuance of torpedo boat numbers to the first of the Cricket class torpedo boats, the existing Torpedo Boats numbered 25 to 79 had a "0" prepended to their number. This vessel, therefore, became T.B. 071.[7]

T.B. 071 would the second-to-last of the 125 footers to be sold, going to B. Newton on 6 February, 1923, a few months ahead of her sister T.B. 073, which survived until 5 July before being sold to L. Basso of Weymouth.[8]
