Engineer Rear-Admiral William Vey Juniper, C.B. (29 November, 1861 – 25 December, 1924) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Early Life & Career

Juniper was promoted to the rank of Assistant Engineer on 1 January, 1883.[1]

He was promoted to the rank of Engineer on 1 March, 1888.[2]

He was promoted to the rank of Chief Engineer dated 2 April, 1895.[3]

He was promoted to the rank of Engineer Commander dated 2 April, 1903.[4] On 9 December his seniority as an Engineer Commander was antedated to 2 April, 1899, in accordance with the provisions of the Order in Council of 9 October, 1903.[5]

On 29 May, 1905, Juniper was appointed Engineer Officer of the Carnarvon on the Mediterranean Station.[6]

He was appointed to Pembroke for the Torpedo Depot at Chatham Dockyard on 17 August, 1907.[7]

He was appointed as Engineer Officer of the Exmouth on 17 September, 1910, flagship of the Commander-in-Chief in the Mediterranean, Sir Edmund S. Poë.[8]

Juniper was promoted to the rank of Engineer Captain on 1 January, 1912.[9] On 17 March, 1913, he was appointed for temporary service in the Department of the Engineer-in-Chief at the Admiralty.[10] On 20 December he was appointed to Carnarvon, but accommodated in Hannibal, for service in the Home Fleets at Devonport under the Rear-Admiral of the Home Fleets at that port, Arthur H. Christian.[11]

Great War

Juniper was appointed to Vivid for service at Devonport on 24 October, 1914.[12]

On 28 May, 1915, he was appointed to Queen on the staff of Rear-Admiral Cecil F. Thursby in the Eastern Mediterranean.[13]

He was promoted to the rank of Engineer Rear-Admiral on 28 November, 1916.[14] On 19 May, 1917, he was appointed to Pembroke for duty at Sheerness.[15]

Juniper was placed on the Retired List on 30 September, 1919.[16]
